[00:00:06] Josh Kennedy: Today's topic is how to generate leads on WhatsApp for gym owners. Uh, this is something that we have just done ourselves. Again, we're going back to the Serbia conference. We've used it to great effect. James, do you want to tell me a little bit about the system we've implemented?
[00:00:20] And you're going to share some slides as well, aren't you?
[00:00:22] James Breese: I am going to share some slides. So before I start to share the slides, because I want everyone to look at me right now. Of course you do. Yes. Look at me, look at me, look at me. That's all about that. No. So. What we know now is that email open rates, depending on industry and depending on how well you're doing with your email marketing systems, maximum, you can get 40 percent open rates, you know, best on average is about 25%.
[00:00:47] I mean, that's
[00:00:47] Josh Kennedy: huge in it. 40 percent is huge,
[00:00:49] James Breese: right? Yeah. Which is huge in, in some of the, some of the higher level in, you know, engrossed, engaged networks you have, but it's not never a hundred percent. Right. So that's a really important thing to [00:01:00] understand. And so as marketers. We like to find ways that people can open their emails or open their things that they request or be in contact with us.
[00:01:10] So WhatsApp is becoming a pretty useful platform to have as part of this tool and this system because you want an ecosystem of communication with clients and members. Not just one tool, one method. It's got to be a multiple diverse from social media to WhatsApp to email marketing. So we are now using WhatsApp for getting cold people into our email list.
[00:01:34] So speaking in Serbia recently at the Optima conference, I did a talk on how to get more gym members without spending money on advertising, and that was our main play. We had, it was a room full of people who'd never seen me before, never heard of me before. So what I wanted to do was to make sure when I'm public speaking.
[00:01:51] And the benefits of public speaking is you don't wanna leave there without giving them something and giving 'em a good reason to opt in for your information to, to maybe nurture them [00:02:00] later down the line. So we gave away a book called The Free Strategy Playbook, right? It was how we take cold, co cold, you know, leads, warm leads and convert 'em into high paying clients.
[00:02:12] So it's a strategy, it's a pre strategy call essentially, it's what we do for everything we have. So, I told them about how to get more gym members, and at the end I said, Hey guys, if you want to learn more about us, I've got a free gift for you, and that's our free strategy call playbook. And I'll show you the slides now if you're watching on YouTube, I highly recommend it.
[00:02:29] So I'll share my screen, let's go entire screen with this. Let me know when you guys can see it. Yep. Yep. So I did the classic Steve Jobs thing, one more thing at the end. After I did my pretty little face there, I went to the one more thing. I said, Hey, this is the free strategy call playbook. What I did is went into a slide where I said, Hey, step one, add this number.
[00:02:52] Strength matters to your contacts. It's our default. What's that number? Our business number and strength matters. Then I said, Hey, send us the word playbook. [00:03:00] Play book. Right to that number. Now, if you're listening on podcast land on Apple, on Spotify, or wherever you may listen to your podcasts, our number is plus four, four, cause that's the international dialing code seven, four, eight, zero double seven, four double Oh eight, not double Oh seven double Oh eight.
[00:03:16] So it's plus four, four, seven, four, eight, zero seven, seven, four double Oh eight, and if you text playbook. To that whatsapp message and that whatsapp message you'll get a link coming back to you and it'll start off the whole automation process To get people onto our email list to download our free strategy call playbook So why am I doing whatsapp messaging first?
[00:03:39] Because numbers tend to be more reliable than emails because sometimes people give fake junk email addresses Whereas numbers tend to be on whatsapp their their default number so we can then follow up with them properly You But also WhatsApp has a 98 percent open rate in comparison to 25 percent to 40 percent [00:04:00] on email.
[00:04:00] So I want people to open up this email, this, this WhatsApp, click on the link. And if they don't click on the link, I can follow up with them and say, Hey, Why haven't you downloaded it? Please download it when you get a moment, because I want them to open that book, download it, speak to us and get involved with us and start to be indoctrinated with us.
[00:04:16] So WhatsApp, and this is all automated, by the way, I should, maybe we should do a webinar actually on how to automate all this and show what we're
[00:04:23] Josh Kennedy: doing. I think we've got to make it clear that this is not on your personal WhatsApp number. This is a specific business number and it's got to all be, you've got to have the systems behind the scenes to make this work right now.
[00:04:33] We haven't got time to go into that. But yeah, I think a webinar or something is a great idea to show people how to set that
[00:04:39] James Breese: up. And that's exactly right. So yeah, we will do a good, good idea. Let's, let's, let's do it and make it happening. In fact, we're going to do more webinars in the next few weeks and months anyway.
[00:04:47] So we'll, we'll do this and show how we're doing it. So, yeah, so we literally set it up. So it was the keyword playbook they used. They send it to us, they then download the link, and we get them into our system, we educate them, we give them that [00:05:00] free gift, which is our 10 step play to strategy call, free strategy calls, when we convert clients, you know, prospects into new clients, essentially.
[00:05:08] So, you need to start using WhatsApp, but not for DMing people and controlling all your Like clients in there because like most personal trainers do or gym owners where it becomes chaotic This all feeds into our crm system our marketing hub Which you guys can all have if you just know a few bits and pieces to learn how to do it So yeah, I highly recommend it.
[00:05:30] It is a useful tool. It's definitely a tool. It's worked Well at the end of each of those comp at the each end of those talks I had about 40 50 people in each of those talks And I reckon about 30 of them gave us their details for more information. So it's a high conversion rate in person. Again, our previous episode, we talked about the importance of public speaking.
[00:05:49] Well, hopefully they know, like, and trust us even more to give us their mobile number to convert them into WhatsApp messages so we can then follow up and nurture them Because there's a higher user intent in fitness before people [00:06:00] make a decision to buy. Any idea off the top
[00:06:03] Josh Kennedy: of your head, um, how many people out of the, let's say 30 people, texted playbook, actually then clicked on their link.
[00:06:12] Do you know that off the top of your head?
[00:06:13] James Breese: Uh, I haven't looked at it, but I know they clicked on the link, but I know they've downloaded it afterwards because I see the things coming through. So of the th of the, of the 30 people that have opted in, I'd say about 20 of them. From what I've seen, and this is purely anecdotal from what, from memory, from what I've seen here.
[00:06:28] So there's about 10 people I need to follow up with, uh, to make sure they have and do go and download it. So
[00:06:34] Josh Kennedy: that's not, uh, not a bad, uh, click rate though. Is it at, at all though? So, uh, I think keep your eye the, um, the thing here is keep your eye out for the webinar coming up, and we'll show you how to do this.
